In this two-day portrait drawing workshop, students will work from a live model, creating quick sketches alongside a more developed finished portrait in graphite or charcoal.
Through demonstrations, group discussion, and one-to-one feedback, Sam will equip students with the tools to capture both the likeness and character of the sitter, while encouraging the development of a personal and expressive drawing voice.
The workshop will cover:
- Proportion, shape, and form
- Understanding and drawing facial features including eyes, nose and lips
- Mark-making and materials
- Composition and expressive use of graphite or charcoal
Sam’s teaching approach is clear, supportive, and accessible, making this workshop suitable for a range of experience levels.
